ALL ABOUT THE BIBLE AND SECOND COMING
DID YOU SEE the total lunar eclipse Sunday night? It was an awesome sight, to be sure—a stunning natural phenomenon. However, there are at least eight reasons it may also be considered a biblical ‘sign’: 1. DAY OF THE LORD In Scripture, a blood-red moon is a sign that Judgment Day is near: “The moon will turn blood red before the great and terrible day of the LORD arrives” (Joel 2:31). Additionally, in the Talmud, blood moons are said to be a warning sign for Israel particularly (Succah 29a.) 2. MILESTONE DATE Sunday’s blood moon marks 74 years since Israel became a nation in May 1948. This is significant because Jesus says the generation who sees the “fig-tree,” Israel, come to life and “put forth leaves” will see all the end-times events come to pass (Matt 24:32–34). Since the average human lifespan in Scripture is 70–80 years, the fig-tree generation ends at 2029, just seven years from now. 3.
